GAME DEVELOPMENT

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of incredible projects that have allowed me to grow and establish myself within this industry. I hope you’ll enjoy viewing my projects as much as I enjoyed working on them. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to learn more about any specific game!

Thanks to Naughty Dog's Uncharted series and instant-classic, The Last of Us, I was inspired to pursuit game development as a career. Because of this, I immediately sought to get a peek behind the curtain once I graduated from college and joined the team in Quality Assurance & Development Support. While in this role, I had the opportunity to not only experience a AAA game in its final stages with The Last of Us Part II, but also aid in the prototyping process with their upcoming multiplayer project!

CRASH COURSE COORDINATION

Game Development: Welcome

For this project, our development team at Lobaki had to work closely with medical professionals from the University of Mississippi Medical Center to recreate a virtual representation of physical exercises performed by their athletes. The University then used these courses to help prevent and aid in the rehabilitation of concussive injuries. This assignment provided me with the opportunity to translate a real-world task into an extraordinary experience through the medium of VR and required me to focus on the game's scripting, 3D modeling, and overall design.

This game was also published on the Oculus store and can be found here!

FALL FEAR FLY REDEMPTION

For this unique VR experience, I had the chance to teach and collaborate with high school aged students from the small town of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Together, we were able to publish a game in which the player has to muster their strength to jump off an intimidating cliffside, journey through a mysterious wormhole, and then compete in a bow-and-arrow space arcade. We allowed the imagination of our students to run free in order to show them the potential of creating anything imaginable!

For this project, I undertook the role of a gameplay programmer and level designer. This position required me to develop a points-based system for our bow-and-arrow section as well as create a scene where the player falls through a wormhole. Additionally, I taught students throughout this process how to complete the tasks required for these assignments.

ARROWHEAD

In order to further develop my technical skills within game development, I chose to create an experience that replicated the "super power" of one of Marvel's most beloved heroes: Yondu. In this Virtual Reality game, you too are able to control a mystical arrow with your mind! After receiving positive feedback from this early concept, I'm excited to take the next steps in turning this idea into a tangible product.

HARDLY WORKING

You've struck out in life and are at an all time low, that is, until you receive a mysterious text one day promising unfathomable riches. You simply need to follow the steps provided and hack into these three computers. Sounds easy enough! Play through this simple, yet bombastic Flash-style game to discover what all this trouble is truly about.

During this project, I was in a group with two other individuals in which I had the role of creating our levels, programming our AI, and implementing our gameplay mechanics. This required me to develop an inventory system, unpredictable AI group, and environment with which the player was able to interact with.

INTO THE MORNING

Throughout my last semester at the University of Colorado, I developed a game with a friend called "Into the Morning". We took this opportunity to utilize the skills we had learned over the previous years in school to create an impactful, narrative-driven gaming experience that tackles the human struggle of grieving. You can find additional information on this project here.

This project has required me to cover all the roles of game development including tasks such as 3D modeling, animation, story-telling, visual scripting, level design and more! My partner and I have both had experience developing games, but this has been our first chance to incorporate a narrative into our experience.

THE LOST TEMPLES

For this project, my group and I chose to create an Uncharted-inspired board game. 'The Lost Temples' utilizes team-based gameplay to collect three matching gems as well as compete against other groups. Once collected, a single player on that team can then access the final hidden temple. The game underwent multiple phases of playtesting and, once finalized, proved to be a success both in class and during CU's 2018 Atlas Expo!
